This space was created from a simple idea: that tattooing, Shibari, photography, and fine art are not separate disciplines. They are different expressions of the same deeper impulse—to explore the human form, emotion, trust, and beauty through artistic experience.

The Origins of the Vision

For many years, tattooing was the center of my artistic life.

Tattooing is a rare form of art. It requires trust, collaboration, and permanence. Each piece becomes part of someone's story, carried with them for the rest of their life. That responsibility demands intention, precision, and respect for the process.

But over time, my creative interests began expanding beyond ink alone.

I found myself increasingly drawn to other mediums that explore the body as a living canvas—particularly Shibari, the traditional Japanese art of rope, and photography, which captures fleeting moments of expression, vulnerability, and form.

Shibari introduced something profound to my artistic practice: the idea that temporary structure can reveal deeper emotional and aesthetic truths.

Where tattoos are permanent marks on the body, rope is temporary. It exists only for the moment it is tied. Yet within that temporary moment, the body becomes sculpture—lines, tension, shape, and balance forming a living work of art.

Photography then becomes the bridge between the temporary and the lasting. It captures the moment before it disappears.

Together, these mediums form a conversation about time, presence, and transformation.

Obsidian Veil Collective was born from that conversation.
